Finally in Sacramento!!
Hola y'all! It's been a while since you've all heard from me but I have a lot to tell you all! So basically I just barely made it to Sacramento last Wednesday even though I was supposed to get there on the 11th. It's kind of a funny story actually.
So all of us had to get tested for covid before we could leave the country for our missions but among everyone that was supposed to leave, a few people tested positive, including someone in my district. So because of that we all had to stay for an extra week to quarantine since we had all been in contact with covid apparently. It was really interesting because all of us who were negative but in contact with covid had to move houses/apartments. Luckily, one of my companions got to go to their mission before all of this craziness happened. However, my other companion and I had to move apartments twice in the same day and other sisters had to move in with us so that was fun. We also had to go to class even though we were all done with our training so that was interesting but it's okay because we still had things we needed to learn. My new companions were also awesome and reached out to me and included me in their companion studies and lesson plans even though I was still at the CCM so that was really nice.
So then once everyone got out of quarantine we got to hang out more as a district and it was nice to see everyone and be together before we all had to leave to our missions. So then the day before we left, we had to go all the way to the airport to get tested for covid and this time different people that had previously tested negative were positive so they didn't get to leave and that was really sad. Some of us also had to put more days on our visa because we had already reached our limit since we thought we would only be there until our scheduled date.
Last Wednesday, I finally got to leave! It was a little sad saying goodbye to the friends I made at the CCM but it was really exciting to finally go to the mission field. The plane ride to Sacramento was long, but when I got there my companions were there to greet me and it was so exciting to finally meet them! Their names are Hermana Macievic and Hermana Charles. They have both been very welcoming and they are really kind.
Things out in the field have been good for this first week that I've been here! We have someone who is getting baptized in the next month and people who are very consistent and have been coming to church and following through with commitments. We also had the opportunity to give our friend who's getting baptized soon a tour of the Sacramento temple. Its really nice. The people here are really nice and its been awesome to get to know them. Sacramento is a pretty nice area! The weather's nice and the foods pretty good so I like it so far! Right now I'm in Rancho Cordova and it's a nice area to be in. Things have been good so far!
Anyways I'm so glad that I got to catch you all up on everything! I hope you are all doing well and I'll update you all soon!
Sincerely,
Hermana Clayton
