This, that, and going broke
Hi everyone! This week has been a week! I don't really have a ton of time this week so this email won't be super long but here it is! So this week was kinda rough because it's super hot outside and we're all feeling a little sick so we got froyo like 3 times this week!
This week's been kinda good though! Some highlights were that we saw a man dancing across the crosswalk in rollerblades and he was an absolute legend and I aspire to be him someday, we got to do a service project for a member except literally it was just going through her old clothes and she gave us some "treasures" like a necklace with a bunch of chiles on it, then we had another service project for the same lady we helped on the fourth of July and we sang hymns while we cleaned her house and we could feel the spirit so strong and it was so good!
We also got to see a baptism for someone in our zone and it was pretty cool! It was a sweet baptism service! The person being baptized talked about how we are all a part of God's family. It was also an interesting baptism service because some man yelled in the middle of his testimony and that was kinda funny and then some other man made us do a math equation in the middle of his testimony but overall we could feel the spirit and we're so happy for the person who got baptized!
So then some miracles happened! I got to see a member from the branch I served in back in Rancho! She even played the organ in sacrament meeting! It was a nice surprise and we got to catch up and talk a little! Then another small miracle happened! We were out visiting formers and we saw this man outside and we felt prompted to go talk to him and his name is Omar and he is so cool! It turns out that he has friends that are members of our church and he's played soccer at our church building with them before and he's never met with the missionaries before but he is interested in meeting with us and he took a Book of Mormon! We also got to have this super cool pass off lesson with the sisters we live with for a teenage boy and he just wanted to get closer to God and loved Helaman 5:12 and was excited to build a relationship with Heavenly Father!
I know that God is with us in the little details of our lives and that God is always merciful and that we can see His hand even through the small tender mercies and miracles in our lives! I want to share the scripture that we read in the lesson in Helaman 5:12 because it means a lot to me. It says,
"And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall."
I know that when we build our foundation on Christ that we can find little snippets of joy in every moment in our lives and that all the bad and negative things that happen in our lives can't bring us down. I know that God loves you and Jesus Christ loves you and that they want you to turn to them and that they will never fail you.
Anyways I hope you are all having amazing weeks and amazing lives! I love you all! I'll update y'all soon! Bye!
Love,
Hermana Clayton
